Akinleye Funmi George

Sir/Madam
Greeting to you and your family
I am Mrs. Akinleye Funmi George founder and co-ordinator of All Saint Motherless Babies home. However, before I continue I would like to apologies if our medium of approach seem too direct. It was out of urgency that we decided to send you this email. I have been in charge of this orphanage for the past 24years and since its inception in 1979 it has been a joy to all of us at the orphanage to care and watch over abandoned children and see them mature into productive citizens to the society. Seven years ago, a teenage mother brought her baby girl to the orphanage. She could not take care of her child who was 3month old. She claimed that she was still dependent and her family refused to accept child, they claimed that she had the child out of wedlock and to them that was an abomination. We accepted her and name her Precious. She was very beautiful and really enjoyed laughing even as a baby. Everyone was attracted to her because of her cheerful spirit. Life as they say, is unpredictable. Just when we thought things were looking bright for her. The unexpected happened, let me explain. Two years ago, a week after Precious Birthday we noticed that she was always in the habit of scratching right eye. We didn't pay much attention to it until the third week when it became red. We took her to an optician and treated her for "Apollo"(a minor kind of eye infection). However, rather than respond to treatment her case grows worse. She started discharging some milky fluid from hr right eye, with time it started getting bigger. We now took her to a specialist and it was there that after some scanning and tests they discovered that she had a tumor growing in her right eye. She was diagnosed as having cancer of the eye. It has not be easy for Precious. She is always in constant pain and her medication is really costing us a lot. She needs to see a specialist in South Africa so that she can undergo some major operations to remove the tumor. The total cost for her to travel for the operation is the equivalent of US$22,000. For the past months so far, we have been able raise the equivalent US$6,384 through the help of some well meaning Nigerians. Precious is a special child; she may not be of noble birth but she special in many ways. She means a lot to us at the orphanage. In spite of all the trials this young girl has experience, she still able to put up a smile. For us she stands for courage in the face of despair. She deserves a right to life just like any other child in the world. Please, we appeal to you for the sake of this young child to assist us in completing the amount needed for the operation. No amount is too big or too small. As much as your heart moves you to donate, please do so. She is now in critical condition and needs to take the operation latest by January ending. Remember this could happen to anyone. Precious never choose to be in this condition, all we can do is to make the world a better place for her. I pray the good Lord blesses you in all your endeavors as you assist us. You can contact us through the below information.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. Akinleye Funmi George
